Philip Sim, Director
Philip Sim has been practising in general suburban law practice since 1996. Philip has appeared in all courts for a wide variety of matters. Courts regularly attended include Local Court, District Court, Supreme Court, Federal Circuit Court and Family Court.
Philip is a former detective in the New South Wales Police. With his extensive experience, he has had exposure to various criminal matters, including murder, robbery, drug related offences, various serious assaults and driving offences.
Philip’s experience was further enhanced by employment with the Australian Security and Investment Commission as a Financial Investigator. Enquiries conducted by Philip into corporate and business dealings of officers in both private and public companies detected breaches of Director’s Duties, including insolvent trading provisions.
Since commencing his law career, Philip has specialised in the areas of Family Law and is a qualified family dispute resolution practitioner. His expertise in family and domestic violence, counselling and mediation is underpinned by a discerning focus on client best interests.
Philip is a member of the Family Issues Committee with the Law Society of New South Wales. He assists in the formulation of policies and recommendations to be adopted by the Law Society.
Philip is a member of Lawasia, a preeminent Law Association operating in the Asia-Pacific region. Philip has presented various papers at various conferences in countries such as South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.
Philip is the Australian representative for the Lawasia Family Law Section.
Philip is a past member of the Juvenile Justice committee and also a past committee member of the City of Sydney Law Society. Philip is presently a member of the Legal Aid Review Committee and the NSW Law Society representative of the Legal Aid Family Law panel.
